St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church

Welcome from Father Joe

At Saint Mathew’s we know that we were created by God to love and worship Him. Therefore, worship is at the heart of our life together. We seek to worship the Lord through strong Biblical preaching, reverent and God focused music, traditional yet vibrant liturgy, and the powerful mystery of the sacraments. To be a part of Saint Matthew’s is to be a part of a family. Whether one is visiting us just once while on vacation or has been a regular worshiper for years, the strong sense of love, warmth, and welcome is the same. Our prayer is that the Spirit of God would be evident in the lives of every member of the Saint Matthew’s family, so that those who come into our midst can meet the living Lord Jesus as they meet us.

Why were here

The life of Saint Matthew’s is marked by our mission statement, Serving God through Body, Mind, and Soul. We recognize that to be a part of church is to be called together into dynamic community. It is in this community that we encounter and have a relationship with God and are transformed by His grace more and more into the likeness of His son Jesus Christ. As we are transformed into the likeness of Jesus and experience his love we are compelled to go out into the world to share that love through service in word and deed.

What we believe

We are Christians in the Anglican tradition with our historic Roots in the Church of England, whose fellowship is characterized by a confidence in the authority of the Old and New Testaments, with basic beliefs summarized in the historic creeds of the Christian Church. We follow the Biblical plan for church order, with spiritual oversight provided by Bishops and local leadership shared by lay persons, Priests, and Deacons. We celebrate the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion in obedience to the teaching of Jesus Christ. What we stand for is most clearly evident in our forms of worship, where, through orderly services with much congregational participation, we seek to give praise and thanks to God in the name of Jesus Christ. We welcome worshippers from every Christian tradition.
